| | Can't Install from CD I am having issues with some CD-ROMs I can't even get Vista to open some CD-ROMS, I put it in, it Autoplays - sometimes the install game screen comes up, sometimes not. When I do click install the screen poofs and nothing happens, no lockup, nothing. I turned off the Program Controller thing, thinking it may be conflicting - but doesn't help either. I tried to browse the CD and it doesn't show anything on the CD at all (although it does show disc space so it is reading the disc) It is not like this for every game I have tried to install... just Oblivion and CC3. Is this because the CD is copy-protected? Is there a workaround to get it to install? Is it a CD-ROM driver issue because I updated all my drivers. Also Vista Sucks. I have had more Bluescreens in one day than I ever had on XP. |

Oblivion and Command and Conquer 3 are both on DVDs, do you have a DVD-ROM drive? > Also Vista Sucks. | | Re: Can't Install from CD Yes, I have 2 drives. HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8164B and a TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-S182D. Neither work. The DVD-ROM occassionally tells me to "insert a disc" when disc is already in there, but more often it just mimics the same thing the CD/DVDW drive does. | | RE: Can't Install from CD Also, would like to add that Medieval 2 Total War, another DVD-Rom causes a Bluescreen error after I click install. Also consistently tells me to "Insert a disc" into the drive when I attempt to explore. The DVDW drive opens it but shows nothing. |
