| | Postal 2 & Fahrenheit Installation Problems Postal 2 (Share The Pain Expansion Included) - European version: I can't get it to play at all, I installed it perfectly. I go to run the game and where it usually checks the CD is valid and asks for the CD key and stuff it comes up with a message saying "this program can only be run in Windows 98/XP/2003" or some crap like that and won't go any further. I tried running it as an administrator and I still get the message.....I tried compatability mode, and it didn't work, the message just came up with "this program can not be run in compatability mode"...... Has anyone else had this problem and got around it? Or got any ideas what I can do about it? Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy): Well this one "pretends" to install then comes up with a message saying something along the lines of "intsallation was interupted". What by? God knows..... Again tried compatability mode & administrator, and still the same thing happens....Any ideas how to fix it? or force it to install?? --------------------- I'm running the 32 version of Vista, if that makes a difference. |

| | Re: Postal 2 & Fahrenheit Installation Problems Haven't tried Fahrenheit (Did you know you can change USMODE=1 to 0 and Indigo Prophecy turns into Fahrenheit, complete with uncensored sex! What would Jack Thompson say!), yet. And never found Postal worth giving the time of day too, but I get the humor. Postal is giving you that message because the developers didn't follow the code of the Microsoft and did Windows version checking their own way. If they had done it the Microsoft way you wouldn't be having this problem, and that sucks. If contacting the game maker/distributer doesn't result in a solution you might do a search at msdn.microsoft.com for the "Application Compatibility Toolkit" it's a confusing tool, but there are utilities built into the ACT that allows you to trick the game into thinking it's on the right OS. Fustrating, isn't it? | | Re: Postal 2 & Fahrenheit Installation Problems Is it really that simple to get "Indigo Prophecy" to be "Fahrenheit"? Seems kinda pointless to make two versions just for that one bit of code *confused*... I'm gonna give that compatability toolkit a go, hopefully it'll work.....If it doesn't, then, meh. I have enough games to keep me occupied while I wait to see if the game developers will patch it (doubt it, but I live in hope).... I remember this kind of thing from when XP first came out.....Maybe, in time I'll actually like this new OS... Yeah, well in the US, were pretty much against Sex (Blowing peoples heads clean off is OK, but no sex), so when Fahrenheit was being brought stateside the publishers said, umm that "full frontal nudity" scene where you get to do the "simon says" moves with your "controller" just didn't fly, so in Indigo Prophecy they removed it, but those uber cool devs left all the original material in the game, all you have to do is change the USMode to equal zero in the .INI file found in your IP folder, and viola, Fahrenheit. Not that big of a deal, but with all the excitement over "Hot Coffee" I was sure someone would make a fuss over this one. Guess it goes to show how little we care about Adventure Games now a days. /sad. You get either game running Necunoscut? -Andy |

| | Re: Postal 2 & Fahrenheit Installation Problems Its kinda disturbing when you think about it. Blowing someones head into shreads of brain and skull is ok, but not nudity of any kind.....hmmmm....Wonder who's wonderful logic dreamed that idea up..... Anyway, yeah, I got Postal working. Some guys at RWS helped me out....Still no luck with Fahrenheit though, I might go and pester Atari about it.
