Vista - Call of Duty Slight lag

I have all CoD games and CoD 2 works fine. My CoD and UO play online but
every 2 or 3 seconds I stop when I am running. Also on some servers my radar
and weapon selection bar have gone. On my own server everything is sweet if I
stop Apple/iPod and iTunes application processes in task manager. But else
where I either have the lag and no radar or radar but lag.

Any ideas.

turning off the Windows Sidebar helped me out a great deal in some games.
Also check to see if you have a program called Google Desktop running in the
system tray as the indexing slows down your computer.

try jason's suggestion first. after that try reinstalling the video card drivers and a clean boot, to disable all programs running on the background
