direct3d problems (video card?)

i have an intel video card. from looking at some of these entries it seems my
video card may not support directx 10. is this the case? should i get a
different video card or wait for intel to get onboard???

Only 2 series of video cards support DirectX 10, at this time.

nVidia GeForce 8 Series (8500, 8600, 8800)
ATi 2x00 HD Series (2400 HD, 2600 HD, etc)

If you drop one of these cards in your computer you'll have access to
DirectX 10 support, HOWEVER...

DirectX 10 is still in it's infancy stage, there are only like 5 or so games
that support DirectX 10 (more on the way) and NONE of these games require
DirectX 10, meaning you don't have to have one of these cards to play the
game, they run perfectly fine in DirectX 9 mode, which has been around
forever now it seems.

What kind of system do you have? Most people feel that if you want a DirectX
10 card you should go for the gusto and get one of the higher end cards, the
GeForce 8800 series is a good bet, and probably need a minimum Core 2 Duo
series of processors or high end AMD X2.

While DirectX 10 should be pretty cool when it finally comes up to speed,
it's of my humble opinion that you don't need DirectX 10 support yet, unless
you just want it to be cool. To put it more bluntly, don't waste your money
just yet. Wait for more cards to come out to drive prices down, and remember
there are no games that "require" DirectX 10 (yet).

Re: direct3d problems (video card?)

Intel doesn't make any Directx 10 video cards as far as I know... You
need to look at cards made with chipsets from Nvidia and ATI (AMD
now). Those are the only ones that support it
