Fable - How to make it work?

I can't manage to make fable: the lost chapters work in vista, Ive tried
compatibility mode, and downloaded the update which claimed it would make the
game work, but nothing.

I really want to play this game so any help would be appreciated

Did you install DX9.0c to Vista? There is one .dll file missing from DX9 in
Vista that causes some games to not run. Might not be related to your issue
and then again it might.

well, i wrote a e-mail to the creators of fable, and they said, that they
were so busy with the new one, so they have no plans on, making a patch that
makes it work.
and they wouldn't promise anything with the new. but that was about two
months ago
