Problem with Games and DEP

Ok So I think I have found the problem most people have been having with
Games not working on Vista and simply crashing after 10 min. Everyone always
tells them it's a driver issue.

I found that the problem is with the DEP (Data Execution Program). When your
game crashes its because Vista thinks the software is processing the memory
(RAM) wrong and shuts down the program to "protect" the computer.
The problem is, is that in order to run your games you need DEP active and
Vista won't let you turn it off for your Games, but the DEP is what is
shutting down your games.
So in order for your games to work you need DEP but DEP is whats shutting
down your games.

My Question is, how can I play my games without DEP shutting them down if I
can't turn DEP off, without changing OS?

You can set DEP to only protect system files. That's the default setting so
if it is still happening then perhaps you need to give those games admin
control. XP has DEP too and I haven't had any issues on Vista64 yet with
games but I only have a few installed to Vista64 as I dual boot XP/Vista so
don't really need Vista for games yet.

I believe you can exclude the game exe from DEP but am not sure how to do it
as I have never had to do it. I know you can do that on XP and expect you
can on Vista too. Look up on google on how to exclude a program or game from
DEP.

This was covered in depth in the "Windows Secrets Newsletter", Issue 106
dated 2007-05-03 in the free and paid versions. Its too much material for
me to copy in here but check WindowsSecrets.com for the back issue and you
will be all set with DEP for Vista.
