| Guest | Vista regular solitaire is bad!! After months of struggling with driver problems between Vista and Nvidia, my husband and I dumped Nvidia and got something else. We have spent hundreds of dollars in upgrades, e.g. LOTS of RAM. The only way Vista actually works properly, without having to "borrow" from other programs is to buy more RAM. Now, my current complaint is the new regular solitaire in Vista sucks! I thought it might just be my husband and I complaining, but you can only win the game about 15% of the time. I just went thru several "threads" on this site and also other areas online of complaints about the same thing. We both love just the regular 'old solitaire for relaxation, but it's so frustrating to hardly ever win. I sure with Microsoft would start listening to it's customers instead of continuing to just put out their new products, upgrades, etc., with all these problems. Sarah |

| Guest | Re: Vista regular solitaire is bad!! Sarah, Do you feel that the logic is "bad" in solitare? i.e. that something in the deal is preventing a win? If have an old XP system still around, you should be able to copy the solitare.exe file, I believe it is c:\windows\system32\sol.exe Mark "Sarah" <Sarah@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news AE53FA1-A7A9-44CB-A6B4-F5982C2AAE3A@microsoft.com...> After months of struggling with driver problems between Vista and Nvidia, > my > husband and I dumped Nvidia and got something else. | Guest | Re: Vista regular solitaire is bad!! Thanks, Mark! I'll try that, but will it be compatible with Vista? There are so many compatibility issues with Vista. One thing I've learned from all of this mess is never, EVER buy any new programs or upgrades from Microsoft until all the bugs are out of them. It's truly frustrating to be used as their Guinea pig. Our XP was working just fine, but we figured we'd upgrade. We had plenty of RAM then, but Vista should come with something that says you have to have so much memory to even run the games, etc. Thanks again, Sarah "Mark" wrote: > Sarah, > Do you feel that the logic is "bad" in solitare? i.e. that something in the > deal is preventing a win? > > If have an old XP system still around, you should be able to copy the > solitare.exe file, I believe it is c:\windows\system32\sol.exe > > Mark > > > "Sarah" <Sarah@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news AE53FA1-A7A9-44CB-A6B4-F5982C2AAE3A@microsoft.com...> > After months of struggling with driver problems between Vista and Nvidia, > > my > > husband and I dumped Nvidia and got something else. | Guest | Re: Vista regular solitaire is bad!! First of all obviously you do not remember how bad xp was when it first came out or you were not using it until they fixed it......Secondly how much ram are you using and what do you use your computer for ??..I have been running Vista since it first came available and except for extremely minor glitches I have not experienced any problems....I know there are people having a horrendous time with Vista and I do understand there frustration with it....I swear the key to Vista is building a custom system and starting from scratch with the op system....Another key I think is to overpower the crap out of anything they say will work....For instance some say 1gig of ram while others say 2gigs....Personally I am running 4gigs of ddr 800...As for Nvidia I am running a 7900gs and have had no problems with any games however when ATI comes out with good DX10 cards I will put 3 in here... Now to the point about Solitaire (which I have been known to waste some hrs on)....When I first started playing it I was winning every other game and it seemed almost too easy but as time has passed it has gotten progressively tougher to win and I am hoping it is because it is adaptively learning (wishful thinking but it helps )..I too am averaging around 15% and can only hope I get better.....I personally MUCH prefer the newer solitaire to xp's version............Just my 3 cents "Sarah" <Sarah@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:146320B6-8AC0-4D31-8447-DEDCFE60E031@microsoft.com... > Thanks, Mark! | Guest | Re: Vista regular solitaire is bad!! I average about 30% wins, playing the 3 card option. Of course, I occassionally cheat by holding down the shift-control-alt key to make it deal one card at a time. Knox |
