Vista - Diablo II Dont RUN!!!!

I have problem...I have Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bits, and i installed
Diablo II and Expansion, my problem starts when the install was end. My game
dont run, i need patch for it o anything please, im vicious i need that
please HELPME!!! i have genuine my windows copy PLEASE!!!

You're kidding, right? I'm running on Vista Ultimate x64, and Diablo 2 was the first game I installed, and I've had no problems. The Vista Games Explorer was even kind enough to automatically download the appropriate cover art icon for me.

Have you installed the latest D2X patch from Blizzard? 1.11 if I'm not mistaken...

Also download and install the latest DX9 runtime updates, and the
application compatiblity update from Microsoft download center.

There is a hotfix in the thread below, and a beta driver for the Nvidia
GeForce 6150 SE. I installed these, and it helped- a little.

The video test for Diablo 2 took my daughter's new Vista laptop down hard-
blue screen of death, had to pull the battery to do a cold boot. Downloaded
a new video driver from Acer, and the program installed, but graphics are too
buggy to play the game.

Bringing this one back from the dead.. I had the same issue with Diablo 2 when I installed it a few days ago on my Vista Home Premium x64 system.

Tried compatibility mode on and off, but what got it to work was by running the Video test that is available in the start menu -> Diablo 2 menu.

Just thought Id throw that out there in case anyone has been still having this same problem.

One other solution, that does not require the use of compatibility mode settings, in to install the game into some folder other than "C:\Program Files (x86)" or "C:\Program Files". When I install any games, new or old, onto my system (Vista Ultimate x64), I always use a custom folder like "C:\Games" as the root for the installation.

Diablo 2 works like a charm, and does not require any compatibility mode settings. And this may come as a shock to most, but the same can be said about Diablo 1. I re-installed it the other day out of nostalgia, and it worked without problems. Also with not compatibility mode settings required.

That being said, I always install my games into c:\Games\* - perhaps why i didnt run into all of the other issues on vista.
