| | Directx 10 problem. I have a problem running any game using Directx 10, it gives me this error code, "The procedure entry point D3D10_CreateEffect could not be located in the dynamic link library d3d10.dll". I have a Nvidia 8600GT so it should be able to run it. O/S: Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Version 6.0 (Build 6000) Any help is appreciated. Thank you. |

| | Re: Directx 10 problem. The board should be able to handle directx10, you mention trying it on "any game" so it sounds like its not a specific one. It could be the driver - what version of display driver are you running? Also, you might try re-installing directx10. Go to www.microsoft.com/directx Hope that helps! | | Re: Directx 10 problem. I have version 163.44 for Vista. I reinstalled Directx with no luck and I noticed something after I clicked "Download the latest DirectX". It said "DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer Brief Description August 2007 The Microsoft DirectX® End-User Runtime provides updates to 9.0c and previous versions of DirectX — the core Windows® technology that drives high-speed multimedia and games on the PC." Does this mean it doesn't update DirectX 10? "Mark" wrote: Quote: > The board should be able to handle directx10, you mention trying it on "any > game" so it sounds like its not a specific one. Since DirectX 10 is Vista only you can't just download it, gotta be running Vista and using Windows Update in Vista to obtain DirectX 10 updates (which I don't think there have been any updates as of yet). Vista by default does not have a lot of DirectX 9.0c files, some games need these files, so you have to download the DirectX 9 from the website and update Vista, though why Windows Update doesn't also update DirectX 9 is beyond me, but that's Microsoft for ya. |

| | Re: Directx 10 problem. I also have a problem with Directx 10, or at least i think i do. I have a nvidea 8800 gtx so that definitly should run it, and it runs, but in any game i try to run with directx 10 my mouse dissapears. It comes back whenever i set the graphics low enough so it switches back to using directx 9c, and it starts to flicker on and off when i turn off some high level graphics like anti-ailasing and antroscropic filtering and vsync. It it just an annoying problem because after buying such a video card i would like to have all the features of directx 10 with my mouse. If you know of anything i should do please help. | | Re: Directx 10 problem. What type of mouse and mouse-driver are you using? Is it one that came with the mouse (like Intellipoint) or just the generic Windows driver? Did it come witha specific system, like a gateway mouse? They frequently have specialized drivers. There is some confusing terminology being used in this thread. While some games have the option to switch between DirectX10 and 9 during setup, I don't think setting the graphics "low enough" so it switches back to DirectX9 typically happens. Actually using DirectX10 calls so you see a visible difference on the screen requires the proper video card and a program that can use it. Can you provide what card you are using, what game you are having trouble with and what video driver version you are using? Hope that helps!
