Oblivion Question

I'm fairly new to video games, and was just wondering if Oblivion - The
Elder Scrolls IV, does it have to be run from the dvd?

Or have I somehow installed it wrong. I did install it with Administrative
rights to begin with, but when I click on the game in Vista's game file, it
says to insert the dvd. It does run from the dvd, but it would be better if
I could run it from the harddrive like COH.

I notice that the website doesn't support Vista, so I guess I'm lucky it
play at all.

Thanks for the help.

You need the DVD in the drive to play it, unless you have a no cd patch

Thanks for the quick response! What is the no cd patch, and is it worth
installing for a dvd, or is it more trouble than it's worth.

Depends...is it such a problem to have the DVD in the drive when you play?
Because on certain games a no cd patch can cause online gaming problems

No, I guess not. Just didn't want to carry around the disc since I have a
laptop. Thanks for your help.

They have the Oblivion cracks here.

www.gamecopyworld.com

You have to get the crack for the version of the game you have installed.
Read the .nfo file to see instructions on how to crack it. .nfo opens with
notepad. Usually it's as simple as replacing the game .exe file with the
cracked version. Always rename the original game exe file though instead
of overwriting it so you can always go back to that version if need be. I
always just add the extension .old to the original file then put the
cracked version in that folder.

Oblivion is a great game, please don't pirate it. Cracking is OK if you
bought the game and don't plan to resell it leaving the original installed.

Support good software people.

Yeah, game just checks to see if you have an Oblivion DVD in the drive, it
doesn't use anti-copying protection, but like most games you have to leave
the disc in the drive when you startup. If you really want to you can remove
the disc once the game starts.

Oblivion has some issues with Vista, let us know if you have problems.

Hi, thanks for the responses everyone.....I'm going to go with the dvd in
the drive instead of putting it on the hard drive. I don't have a huge
amount of space on my hard drive anyway I just wanted to make sure that
was how it was supposed to be.

It seemed to have some problems at first, I was getting an error code when I
clicked on it in the games program, but I did a disc scan and defragmented
and it seems okay now. I don't really know how it's supposed to look, but
the graphics are pretty amazing! I haven't had any crashes so far. I'm
running it on a laptop with 2 g. RAM and a 7950GTX nvidia card.

I noticed on some websites that they say the program can't run with an Intel
chip, or something, but everything seems to be working okay. When I first
installed I had to "run" as Administrator though.

Did I say anything about pirating it? I just gave instructions on how to
crack the game .exe so you can play it without the DVD in the drive.
