| | Oblivion Question I'm fairly new to video games, and was just wondering if Oblivion - The Elder Scrolls IV, does it have to be run from the dvd? Or have I somehow installed it wrong. I did install it with Administrative rights to begin with, but when I click on the game in Vista's game file, it says to insert the dvd. It does run from the dvd, but it would be better if I could run it from the harddrive like COH. I notice that the website doesn't support Vista, so I guess I'm lucky it play at all. Thanks for the help. |

Thanks for the quick response! What is the no cd patch, and is it worth installing for a dvd, or is it more trouble than it's worth. |

Because on certain games a no cd patch can cause online gaming problems -- VRG Scottyİ www.vistareadygames.com Register (it's free) and Use the Search for solution button to find the answer. |

Thanks for your help. www.gamecopyworld.com You have to get the crack for the version of the game you have installed. Read the .nfo file to see instructions on how to crack it. .nfo opens with notepad. Usually it's as simple as replacing the game .exe file with the cracked version. Always rename the original game exe file though instead of overwriting it so you can always go back to that version if need be. I always just add the extension .old to the original file then put the cracked version in that folder. |

If you really want to you can remove the disc once the game starts. Oblivion has some issues with Vista, let us know if you have problems. -A. |

Hi, thanks for the responses everyone.....I'm going to go with the dvd in the drive instead of putting it on the hard drive. I don't have a huge amount of space on my hard drive anyway I just wanted to make sure thatwas how it was supposed to be. It seemed to have some problems at first, I was getting an error code when I clicked on it in the games program, but I did a disc scan and defragmented and it seems okay now. I don't really know how it's supposed to look, but the graphics are pretty amazing! I haven't had any crashes so far. I'm running it on a laptop with 2 g. RAM and a 7950GTX nvidia card. I noticed on some websites that they say the program can't run with an Intel chip, or something, but everything seems to be working okay. When I first installed I had to "run" as Administrator though. |
