Vista Updates have ruined my Counterstrike Source Experience

Okay System Info -

PSU - 0CZ 850W SLI rated
CPU - Q6600 @ 2.4ghz
RAM - 4GB = DDR2 PC8500 1066mhz OCZ SLI Ready
MOB - Nvidia 680i
HDD - System Disc - 80gb WD Caviar
GFX - Currently running 1 x 8800GTX (would be 2 but trying to see if SLI is
the problem)

right recently the start of september or end of august there was a largish
VISTA update and there was something in that update that has caused my
Machine everytime i play CSS to have an appauling frame rate to the point
where my game is unplayable to about 24-25fps which is an almost enron like
fall from it's almost constant 200 ^ 280 on maxed settings with SLi or
170-180 maxed on Single card

Please give me some advice on how i can solve this hanious problem and get
my CSS back to be good and fun

Re: Vista Updates have ruined my Counterstrike Source Experience

Don't freak, but here's a few more updates the might solve your problems,
hopefully:

Have you tried the latest Nvidia Beta drivers (August 20, 2007)?

http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_163.44.html

Also, regarding your motherboard (August 28, 2007):

http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_32_15.08.html

And from Microsoft, which Nvidia recommends, download and install:

First (8/27/2007):

When a DirectX 10 application runs on a Windows Vista-based computer that
has multiple graphics cards, the computer does not use the secondary
graphics card
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936710/

Second (8/27/2007):

Virtual address space usage in Windows game development (this hotfix
resolves abnormal application behavior such as crashes and extremely low
frame rates when running some 3D applications at very high graphics
settings)

Re: Vista Updates have ruined my Counterstrike Source Experience

You can't get the Microsoft updates through windows update yet. Technically,
they're only available if you purposefully download them. So to repeat what
the other guy said, go get the newest beta forceware drivers then go download
the 2 updates from Microsoft.

I also have heard through the interwebs that vista SP1 beta testers are
experiencing noticable gaming performance improvements, so whenever they
release that you should be much better off. That being said, if its just a
generic vista performance issue that hasn't had a hotfix published yet, try
running in application compatibility mode with XP SP2 or Win2k.
