Vista - Directx 7 games

I'm trying to install a game that requires directx 7 but when I click on the
application to install it, I get an error message that says 'Directx7 init.
failed.'

Can anybody help me? I already tried installing the dxwebsetup.exe but that
didn't work.

Its possible that you don't have all of the directx pieces you need. Vista
comes with Directx10 but the installation lacks some of the older calls. Go
to www.microsoft.com/directx and download and install the directx9.0c - it
won't interfere with your directx10 it will just add in the missing pieces.

You might also try running in compatibility mode (right-click on the icon,
select properties) but Idon't think the modes alter directx functionality.
