| | Re: I need help badly I don't know the answer so this is just a guess, but it sounds like the designers are still working things out, hopefully there will be a patch for it soon, in the meantime have you tried activating parental controls and allowing everything? Another possibility, create an administrator user account and try running it or setting parental controls using that. Hope that helps! "Run as Administrator" If the installer doesn't run elevated the installer may think it's installing, but Vista doesn't allow the files in Program Files to be created. Note that people are having problems with these games, if you can't get them working, consider contacting the game maker and getting a refund. |

| | Re: I need help badly I have Vista Home Premium and can download and play Bigfish games. The PC is an HP and I have no problem installing HP's updates. I'm guessing the difference between my PC and yours is that I have turned UAC off. I know that a lot of the MVPs will say not to do that, but UAC has cause more trouble than it is worth and, IMHO, is one reason that many folks are so unsatisfied with Vista. Try turning UAC off and see if that solves your problems. You can always turn it back on when ever you want. Good luck. | Vista Home | Re: I need help badly This can probably be fixed by using MS Java instead of Sun Java. It aperies that microsoft is attempting to strong arm sun Java out of business by forcing the owners of vista to run microsoft java instead of sun java DISCLAIMER: We are not affiliated or responsible for any content from these sites. Once you've downloaded the program and scanned it for any malware, follow these steps: Click Save when prompted. At the top of the next window, there will be an area that says "Save in:". Immediately to the right, there is a drop-down box where you can select where you want to save the file. Make sure this is set to Desktop (It is the upper most list option) Click Save. (The file will take anywhere from 1-40 minutes to download, depending on how fast your connection is.) Once the file is downloaded, find the file named msjavx86_3805.exe. It will be located on your Desktop background. Double-click the file to start the installation. When asked "Would you like to install the Microsoft VM?", click Yes. When installation is complete, you may need to restart your computer. Next, uninstall the Sun Java Plug-in: Click the Start button on the Windows Taskbar. Select Control Panel (this may be under 'Settings' on the Start Menu). Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon. Click Java 2 Runtime environment, SE v1.4.2_01. (Note that the version number may also be SEv1.5 or higher.) Click Remove. Follow the prompts to uninstall it. Also, be sure to remove any "J2SE Runtime Environment..." items as well. Now completely close all browser windows and try playing again. You're now using the Microsoft Java VM. |

| | Re: I need help badly UAC = User Account Control ....it's the feature where if you go to install something Windows will ask, "Are you sure? Continue or Cancel" It's basically the butt of all Vista jokes, if you disable it, it can fix some minor issues. The option to disable user Account Control is in the control panel under "User Accounts". -A.
