Sound Recorder (downgraded) in Vista

The Vista Sound Recorder is a downgrade from the XP one. You can only record
sound, cant edit .wav files.
You can't take parts of the sound file out or speed up or slow down the
audio. It only records.

WHERE HAS THE .WAV EDITOR FEATURE GONE IN VISTA?

RE: Sound Recorder (downgraded) in Vista

Greetings,

I'd recommend using Audacity for editing audio files. Works great with
Windows Vista as well, plus it's free. You can download it at
http://audacity.sourceforge.net. It comes with several (and I do mean
several) plugins and options, I use it frequently for recording and editing
audio, very stable software.

Have a great daym

Re: Sound Recorder (downgraded) in Vista

I downloaded Audacity and was disappointed. All I wanted to do is increase the volume on a sound file of one of my student’s voice recording so that it would be near the same volume level as the rest of the kids recording in a PowerPoint presentation. It is due in a couple days and I don’t have time to found down or learn a new program so I guess I have to jump back and forth between computers.

Re: Sound Recorder (downgraded) in Vista

So what is the problem? This isnt Vista related but Audacity related. Plus
there are many more sound application out there other than Audacity that
could have gotten this done.

Re: Sound Recorder (downgraded) in Vista

Not to mention that Audacity would do it just fine,
but this person seems not to want to take the time
to learn how.

Re: Sound Recorder (downgraded) in Vista

Your right I do not have time to learn audacity. I had to do a presentation in a week. Had over 83 wave sound files to adjust volume on so that they would be loud enough and consistent for the slide show.
I Know I can adjust them slightly in PowerPoint itself, but it was much easier for me to use the old MS sound recorder while I was recorder. I did not want to embed sound files into slides because I worked with the show itself without the presents of the kids recording the sounds and I wanted freedom to label and insert sound files anywhere in the show.
I loved the simple increase volume and decrease volume menu options on sound recorder. With the lack to do anything else but recorder why both even putting the program in the Windows software to begin with
