| | ReadyBoost Cache I switched from a 4GB USB Memoryto a 4GB SD card. The ReadyBosot Properties indicates " A cache exists on another device in the system. Please remove the cache from that device before creating a cache on this device." I removed the cache from the original device and still get the same message and cannot get ReadyBoost on any device now. Any help is greatly appreciated |

| | Re: ReadyBoost Cache Michael, Thanks for the input. I finally determined the cause of the problem. I have a Lenovo X61 with 1GB Intel Turbo Memory. It is basically for a "Ready Drive" hadr disk cache. The is an additional option for it also to be the "ReadyBoost" cache. Once I unchecked the box for the ReadyBoost and rebooted, Vista started to recognize my SD card. "MICHAEL" wrote: Quote: > * JohnBoy: Quote: > > I switched from a 4GB USB Memoryto a 4GB SD card. | | Re: ReadyBoost Cache Glad to hear you got it worked out, and for posting back. Many users may take advice here, but never post back if it actually helped them. | | Re: ReadyBoost Cache Thanks I hare X61 with turbo memory and was wondering about that But I have heard bad things about messing with TM settings from AnandTech: By no means should you check or uncheck either of these boxes. According to Intel, they are not meant to be used to enable/disable Turbo Memory, and tinkering with them may enable or disable the technology with no way of confirming what has happened. Intel went as far as to say that if we touched anything on this page that we shouldn't trust what the control panel told us because it may not be correct; the control panel should simply be used as a visual tool to confirm that ReadyBoost and ReadyDrive are enabled. The control panel will tell you the truth about whether or not the RB/RD caches are enabled, so long as you don't touch any of the buttons. | | Re: ReadyBoost Cache I actually have (had) the same problem. Also X61 tablet with turbo memory chip. Unchecking the "readyboost" in turbo control panel solves the problem but my question is why do I have to manually disable ready boost in turbo memory when it was working just fine before? I thought it was because I pulled out the flash drive before "safely remove" but windows guys actually recommend just pulling it out so the next time you don't have to configure ready boost feature on the stick.
