When my laptop is in sleep or hibernation mode, the only way to wake it is to press the power button. In sleep mode, opening the lid will also wake the laptop. Marco |

| | Re: sleep and won't wake up Whenever mine goes into sleep, it really doesn't (at least I don't think so) because the power button doesn't flash off and on (it used to when sleep worked). I've left all the default settings the same. In order to turn it on, I have to push the power button to turn it off, then on again (still the screen stays blank), then off again, then on again. Finally, the screen says "Cannot resume from current restoration settings." Then it ask if I want to continue to try resuming or if I want to erase restoration data and reboot, which is what I have to do. I tried a patch from microsoft, but it didn't work. Any ideas? | | Re: sleep and won't wake up I have the same exact problem - and mine is a laptop. I would imagine it's the same problem only I have an extra setting for shutting the lid. I've got all the sleep/hibernation settings set so it "should" sleep or hibernate when the lid is closed or when I pick hibernation from the start menu. Mine too leaves the power button solid, not blinking. It seems to be random when it hibernates and when it doesn't. It works maybe 10% of the time. Now I'm forced to shut it down and then it starts back up in safe mode. I've been looking for fixes for 3 months now. I think I'm ready to go back to my ancient desktop, at least that one worked. | Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: sleep and won't wake up I am running Vista 64 bit and my problems are similar in nature. If I select "Sleep" it will wake up BUT if it goes to "sleep" automatically, I must hold power button down for 4 seconds if it was sleeping for 3 or 4 hours. Then power back up and it goes to my last action. I have downloaded and installed updates as they become available It sounds like you may need to set the "Hibernate After" to "Never" in your power options. You may also have your BIOS sleep state set incorrectly. You might try S3. See STEP TWO and THREE in this tutorial for how. http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/63...-problems.html Shawn |

| | Re: sleep and won't wake up Your problem is like mine. The blue flash DOESNT, and keyboard presses or mouse movement do nothing. I've tried pressing the power button to no avail. I have to reboot and simply "resume Windows" does NOT work either. Tech support from ACER and BEST BUY is NONexistent! -- Steve in the midwest "Andrew" wrote: Quote: > Whenever mine goes into sleep, it really doesn't (at least I don't think so) > because the power button doesn't flash off and on (it used to when sleep > worked).
