Unfortunately you can only RDP into Vista Business, Enterprise and Ultimate
editions. You cannot RDP into Vista Home edition (why not? no idea; some
petty restriction imposed by Microsoft Windows marketing).

Assuming you have a suitable edition, on the Vista machine you enable Remote
Desktop in the usual manner - under System, Properties, Advanced System
Settings, Remote. To allow access from XP, you need to select the middle
radio button, labelled "Allow connections from computers running any version
    of Remote Desktop".

For more step-by-step info, on Vista go to Start, Help and Support, and
    search on "remote desktop".

From XP, you just run the Remote Desktop client, either from the Start menu,
or run mstsc.exe, and then give the hostname or IP address of the target
    Vista machine.

    Hope this helps,
