Media Center has Stopped Working

I just bought a new ADS TV tuner for my Vista Ultimate computer with a
Pentium D 3.0Gig processor. I have a geForce8500 video card with
512meg, loads of disk space, and 2 gig system ram. I have been unable
to set up the tuner because Windows Media Center keeps crashing with
the totally useless message, "Windows Media Center has Stopped
Working." The only information in the event viewer is event ID 7034.
There were several of these, as well as 7031's and 7032's.

The TV card does say it is Vista compatible, and the drivers did
appear to install. But that should not explain the problems with
Media Center anyway.

I have checked other discussion groups, and other people are reporting
this same problem, but no one seems to have a solution. Can anyone
help me here?

TIA,
Martin

Re: Media Center has Stopped Working

Have you checked for any updated drivers for the TV Tuner?

Re: Media Center has Stopped Working

I just checked the ADS site, and there are no new drivers that I can
see. The only tech help was to send a message to their technical
assistance people. There weren't even any FAQs for this product.

Re: Media Center has Stopped Working

I would use the limited technical support and see what they say about the
issue.

Re: Media Center has Stopped Working

I have not heard from tech help from ADS, which is somehow not
surprising. But even if I do, I don't think they can help me with my
WMC problem, which is still not working.

Re: Media Center has Stopped Working

I bit the bullet: I went to the MS site and found a hotfix for WMC,
KB936229. Downloaded and installed it, and it did absolutely nothing.
