| | Real weird error when closing the Task Manager Windows Vista 32 Ultimate I keep getting the attached error each and every time I close the task manager AND the volume control applet. Nobody, but nobody at Fry's or Best Buy service centers have a clue why this is happening. Anybody have any idea how I can fix this? Thanks for your help. Mike |

Type in: SFC /SCANNOW and press your Enter key. This procedure will scan Vista's protected system files and attempt to repair or replace missing or corrupt files. -- Carey Frisch Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User --------------------------------------------------------------- "Mike Smithson" <MS125@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:Ob6XNpdFIHA.5208@xxxxxx Windows Vista 32 Ultimate I keep getting the attached error each and every time I close the task manager AND the volume control applet. | | Re: Real weird error when closing the Task Manager Thanks for the info (Andre and Carey), I ran the scan and rebooted, no joy yet, I still get the same error. This is really puzzling. Can you think of anything else I can try? Thanks for your help. Double-click the problem record, to see the problem details. Some more detailed info about the crash will appear. You can also use this panel to check for known solutions, from Microsoft. This does actually work, sometimes - I fixed a couple of issues by checking for updates, here. The error details may include an exception code, like 0xC0000005 - these codes are very useful to folks who know how to debug problems. There may also be a dump file and a text file with details of the crash. These can be useful to experienced debuggers, although a bit inscutable for end-users. At least, you select the option to send the dumps to Microsoft, so they are aware of the crash. Hope it helps a bit, -- Andrew McLaren amclar (at) optusnet dot com dot au |

| | Re: Real weird error when closing the Task Manager I notice the Problem Reports and Solutions engineers are fairly responsive with feedback, so thats definitely a good idea. -- Andre Blog: http://adacosta.spaces.live.com My Vista Quickstart Guide: http://adacosta.spaces.live.com/blog...3DB!9709.entry "Andrew McLaren" <andrew@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:075F023E-7925-4558-A0E2-60DDBA8D9001@xxxxxx Quote: > "Mike Smithson" <MS125@xxxxxx> wrote ...
