Problem with backup

Looks like quite a few people are having problems creating backups of
their computers. I've checked out a few other topics but I can't find
an answer. I'm running Vista Home Premium on a Lenovo laptop. I managed
to make my initial back up discs without a problem, but have not been
able to do any subsequent back ups. I was gettin a message that
indicated my access was denied, so I searched for updates and
downloaded them. Now I get a different message - 'The parameter is
incorrect (0x80070057)'
I don't really know where to go from here, i'm not that technically
minded! Can anyone make any suggestions? Thanks!

Laura

File Backup fails with the following error:
The parameter is incorrect. (0x80070057)

This error is caused by a bug in File Backup where if you don't back up at least one file
during the full backup, every backup after that fails. The workaround is to go through the
Backup wizard again and choose a new full file backup at the very end.

I've attached a snapshot.
Love the "Snipping Tool".

You have to go through a few of screens
before you get to choose "create new full backup",
it's the last screen.

Re: Problem with backup

I don't see anything! Argh. I am now running a full new back up but
worryingly I am on disc 10 (using CD ROMS) and don't seem to be even
half way through, am considering aborting! The first back up I did when
i first got the laptop took 9 discs. but this was after I had put about
40gb of music anf pics on the laptop - this is no longer on the laptop
so what is going on?!?

1 CD = 0.6 Gig. 40Gig's of music = 67 CDs. Plus the 9 original, plus one or
two more. You'll need 80 CDs.

At fifty-cents each, that's $40.00.

You could buy a 80Gig hard drive for that.

Re: Problem with backup

No, I removed all of the music, there should have been less on the
laptop than the first time I backed up! Argh! I am considering sending
the laptop back and getting another, one with XP on it... :P I never
ever had this sort of trouble with XP! I am about to give up.. so many
other problems on this laptop too... anyone know whether, if after
doing chkdsk and failing, then doing scandisk and finding lots of
unfixable errors, whether it is now time to send the bloody laptop
back? I have had ther laptop for 3 months but there has always been a
problem, I just haven't had time to sit down and try to solve it until
this week!
