I tried to save some background jpg imaes to C:\windows\Web\Wallpaper and
got this popup "Cannot save C:\windows \Web\Wallpaper xxx.jpg this is a
read only file."What I think what is happenind is it is trying to save the
wallpaper file as it is a read only file.I have tried uncheckin read only in
the propeerties but no joy.I know it'ds not the graphicd program I'm using
'cause I have the same thing on a seperate XP disk .Any info-help is
appreciated

Not for sure but the .jpeg might have been posted as read only by the
origional poster; there are ways to reproduce the same photo (.jpeg) and
save it to your computer but that's another thing entirely.

Re: Vista file question

You probably don't have permission to copy files to that folder.
But you don't need to.
Just create a folder under C:\Users\youraccount\Pictures
name it Wallpaper
copy the images there.

When you go to select a desktop background (right-click on the Desktop,
select Personalize, Desktop Background),
just navigate to that folder. It will remember several picture locations,
in case you want to change it later.
