Churning of Harddisk an BSOD

When I get the BSOD and the IRQ does not equal or does something less than garbage, it is when the computer is churning in the background. I have turned off Disk defrag and antivirus and spyware checks, etc. Could someone direct me to what else to turn off so this churning that starts every day around noon can be stopped. I don't have any spyware or virus on my PC.

Re: Churning of Harddisk an BSOD

It may not be the case, but check your BIOS settings. I had this problem myself a while back, with random blue-screens that appeared during or after intense disk activity on a particular hard disk.

If your BIOS has the option to adjust it, make sure that 32-Bit Disk Access is turned on for all hard disks, even if you are running Vista x64. This solved the problem for me, and I haven't had a BSOD in weeks.

You say you heard a churrning, I assume you mean the harddrive is making a sound that is easily heard. That is a clear sign of a dying HD. I suggest you backup everything thing thats of any importance to you ASAFP and prepare for the worse.
