setting open file display defaults

How do I get it so my file open boxes all display only the columns I want in the order I want on ALL open file diaglog boxes as well as when opening windows explorer?

Hi Sheila,

You will need to reset the folder views in Vista. See method two in this tutorial for how to do it. The download is the easiest way of doing it. This will let Vista remember your settings.

Brink...thanks so much. For some odd reason my posts to the newsgroup via
Outlook Express are not showing up. So I never saw this response in October
and reposted my question a couple of days ago. Then when I went to see any
responses I noticed my posts weren't there so I went to the newsgroup via the
web instead of the newsreader. That's when I found your most helpful note.
I'll go try this right now. Seems like this shouldn't be so much work. Can't
imagine why MS doesn't have a way to do this built right in. Oh well...just
glad I found your helpful response.
