| Guest | Re: installing exchange server 2003 on Vista You can install the Administrative Tools for Exchange, but I am afraid you can't install the software itself on Vista since it requires a Domain Controller on a Windows Server System to tie into the Active Directory service to provide its core functionality. -- Andre Blog: http://adacosta.spaces.live.com My Vista Quickstart Guide: http://adacosta.spaces.live.com/blog...3DB!9709.entry "Ric" <fraybentos@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:92B3E5F8-B1FF-48C8-B98A-456A64ADF128@xxxxxx Quote: > Is this possible? | Guest | Re: installing exchange server 2003 on Vista A member Server within the Active Directory, there are dependencies, you will have the Master DC, Child DC - which Exchange would be installed on. Also that quote is a recommendation, not a requirement, look at Windows Small Business Server, it installs all mission critical applications on the same Server running as a DC, ISA, Exchange, SQL, and AD. -- Andre Blog: http://adacosta.spaces.live.com My Vista Quickstart Guide: http://adacosta.spaces.live.com/blog...3DB!9709.entry "ThePro" <mcthepro_@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:14603083-BC1D-4B27-8FCC-B64662A3F56F@xxxxxx Quote: > "Andre Da Costa[ActiveWin]" <andred25@xxxxxx> wrote: Quote: >> My knowledge is Exchange Server requires Active Directory, AD requires >> the server be promoted as a DC. > Then your knowledge is wrong.
