QUICKEN MISSING FROM VISTA

I've installed Vista and it appears Quicken is gone. Shouldn't the base
programs contained in XP still be avail in Vista?

Re: QUICKEN MISSING FROM VISTA

I assume this was an upgrade from XP to Vista? Quicken is not a built in
program that comes with Vista, its developed and sold by a Company named
Intuit. If you are talking about missing application, check C:\Program
Files\Quicken folder.

Re: QUICKEN MISSING FROM VISTA

Quicken is not part of Vista or XP. It is produced by Intuit and has to be
purchased separately

Quicken is a Microsoft product and has *never* been included with any
version of Windows.

Quicken is developed by Intuit, not Microsoft and has never been included
with Windows. It was probably installed by the computer manufacturer.

Re: QUICKEN MISSING FROM VISTA

Hi, Lenny.

HOW did you install Vista? And is it 32-bit or 64-bit - and the same
question for WinXP?

Quicken is from Intuit, not from Microsoft. It never was a part of any
version of Windows. SOME computer sellers may have included Quicken in a
bundle with a new computer, but that is not the norm. Normally, we have to
buy Quicken separately and install it in either WinXP or Vista.

If you had bought and installed Quicken in your WinXP, and then you upgraded
to Vista, then Vista Setup MIGHT have migrated to Quicken. But upgrades to
Vista have encountered problems so often that most users end up doing a
"clean install". This, of course, requires that Quicken be reinstalled in
Vista after Vista itself is installed.

If you tell us more about your computer and its history, we might be able to
give you a better answer.

Re: QUICKEN MISSING FROM VISTA

If you did a "clean install" of Vista, then no programs will be available,
except those that are part of Vista (e.g., notepad, internet explorer, some
small games), since a clean install means (1) format=erase=destroy, then
(2) install Vista..

If you did an upgrade from XP, then all programs should still be on the hard
drive, but some of them will not work.

To detemrine whether Quicken is still present, look under C:\Program
Files\... for something like Quicken (or Intuit, the makers of Quicken). If
present, but not working, check the Intuit website for requirements, such as
supported operating systems, availability of patches, etc, etc.

Do not be surprised if you find that you need to upgrade Quicken to work
under Vista.

Re: QUICKEN MISSING FROM VISTA

That makes sense. It's an HP computer so they installed it.

Tagging on a little "Oops" post doesn't make up for your intolerable
transgression. Please think before you post or don't post AT ALL! You have
been warned, pal ( when you read 'pal', read it imagining a cross tone of
voice .. not one indicating friendship of any sort).
