Office 2000 PRO and Office update

I see in other posts in this forum that Office 2000 has run well for
everyone. I've tried installing it and it runs, but I want of course to get
the latest SP's and security patches. Unfortunately if you go to the Office
Updates web site it tells you that it won't support Office 2000, only Office
XP and above, but if you want to run Office 2000 on Vista it directs you to
where you can download them manually. I've tried several different
downloads of SP3 but each one tells me "The expected version of the product
was not found on your system".

Is this everyone's experience? Is every Office 2000 / Vista user running
the base product unpatched?

Thanks in advance
James

Try updating Office 2000 in a chronological order, SP1a, SP2 and
then SP3. The Service Pack manual downloads are found on pages
2 & 3 of the following:

The above is definitely not the case. Please understand that Office 2000 is
not a certified product that is guaranteed to work properly on Windows
Vista. The recommendation is either you upgrade to Office 2003 with SP3 or
Office 2007. If you can't do that, the only guaranteed workaround is to
install a compatible version of Windows in Virtual PC 2007 running on
Windows Vista and install Office 2000 with the latest updates on top of it.

Re: Office 2000 PRO and Office update

Thanks, that did it, and then I installed all the security patches since.
Pity that the disabled the automatic update that's available for the same
Office 2000 programs but when run on Vista...

Cheers
James

Re: Office 2000 PRO and Office update

Yep, understood that part, I'm operating under a disclaimer...

What I should have said is that there's lots of people seeming to run it OK
(except for an Outlook issue), and others who aren't...

Ciao
