| | Vista does not read my camera memory My camera uses SD memory and I have no problem with XP - it automatically detects the memory and opens the save pictures to PC wizard. No such joy with Vista - it recognises there is memory there but says it needs formatting. Basically, if I format the memory in Vista, the camera can not see it and if I format it in the camera, Vista is not happy - but again, XP has no problems with the same memory. Any ideas please? |

| | Re: Vista does not read my camera memory Have you considered trying the cameras manufacturers web site support section? Maybe also their FAQ's. -- Regards, Richard Urban Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User (For email, remove the obvious from my address) "rene" <rene@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:800CAE61-3357-4DF4-BF4B-5A162ECE92C4@xxxxxx Quote: > My camera uses SD memory and I have no problem with XP - it automatically > detects the memory and opens the save pictures to PC wizard. | | Re: Vista does not read my camera memory Hi Rene, Check with the system manufacturer for a card reader driver update. I've seen this on a few systems, and I believe it has to do with how Vista is interpreting the file system that the camera uses on its card. It may need some supporting software from the camera maker as well. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "rene" <rene@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:800CAE61-3357-4DF4-BF4B-5A162ECE92C4@xxxxxx Quote: > My camera uses SD memory and I have no problem with XP - it automatically > detects the memory and opens the save pictures to PC wizard. | | RE: Vista does not read my camera memory Hi! I have the same problem like you, with my Sony Playstation Portable. When I plug in the console via the USB cable to PC, Windows recognize new drive (MemoryStick), assigns drive letter, but when I try to acces memory card, notiffication window appears, which says: formatting needed. The same situation when I use card reader. When I conect PSP to laptop with XP, I have full acces to memorystick without any problems. I looked for similiar problems on different boards, included this one, but I cant find any solution for this problem. This problem affect not only me and you, but a lot of people around. I suppose, that Vista has a lot of problems reading media (flash cards, and other external or internal devices), with another than NTFS file system. But why we, clients of MS, must suffer from crappy piece of software?!!! Maybe someone have any suggestions, how to resolve this problem. I'm glad to hear that it solved your problems, but you do not yet know what new problems may still be in store for you. In my view, regardless of any individual's specific experiences, installing a beta version of a service pack for Windows on anything but an extra computer (where you don't mind if everything gets lost) is foolhardy, and looking for trouble. If you are personally willing to take the risks involved with installing beta software, that's your choice, but it's irresponsible to advise others to do the same. -- Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP Windows - Shell/User Please Reply to the Newsgroup |

| | Re: Vista does not read my camera memory Hi! I think that everyone, who can read, fully understand that instalation of beta software is risky. Microsoft warns everybody before instalation of SP RC1 for Vista, that it may be dangerous for stabilty of the operation system, and may end with data loss. I describe only results on my PC with Vista installed. Good results for me. Maybe I'm lucky one. You, I, and others have own brains, and fingers which press mouse button when pointer of the mouse is above button signed "Install". Everyone have to estimate the risk and make the decison. I choose to test SP RC1, and my problems was solved. And I would like to inform others about this. Nothing more.
