| Guest | USB External Drive Problem I recently upgraded my computer from a core 2 dual processor to a core 2 Quad. The BIOS was also updated at that time. I am running Vista Ultimate and everything is working fine except my external USB hard drive. When I cold boot my computer, the external hard drive is visible in "My Computer" and it appears in the tray as a device which can be removed. The device manager also shows it as OK. However when I try to open the drive, it tells me the folder is empty. If I unplug the device and plug it back in, I get an "unknown device" error. If I shut the drive off and turn it back on it works fine. I looked in CMOS but didn't see any parameters that seemed relevant. Any ideas? |
