Yes now thare are a lot of programs for deletig such as ccleaner,but it's possible to set something in windows for allow deleting index.dat? But in the case of index.dat files it is a cumbersome task, maybe requiring you to run in Safe mode and so on, and you might still end up with no success. It is simpler to just use a clean up tool.
