expected behavior with Sidebar and maximized window?

I'm running Vista Home Premium with Sidebar. The background of Sidebar is
translucent which I expect to be its behavior. When I maximize a program's
window, that window does not extend under the Sidebar, which is what I
expect, however the translucent background of Sidebar then becomes solid
    black. Expected behavior?

If not, pass this on as a suggestion or a bug. Thanks, DH

When I maximize a program it covers the sidebar.

Exit the Sidebar then restart it. Go to the Sidebar properties and make sure
it is not set to be on top.

Andre, well that tip made things work as I thought they should have.
    Thanks! DH

Re: expected behavior with Sidebar and maximized window?

I'm back. I still have the situation where if Sidebar _is_ Always On Top,
_and_ a window is maximized, the background of Sidebar becomes black. I
would think that is a glitch though it did work fine yesterday.

Now I am running Sidebar _not_ Always On Top, and that seems to be better
fro my needs. I still think there's a problem though it's certainly not
    serious. Thanks, again, DH
