| | A Letter to Bill Gates. Dear Mr. Bill Gates: As I have previously mentioned the following, "Installing Avast 4.6 Home Edition on Build 5308 CTP will cause the Operating System to become "Completely Unstable," that is unless you turn off "All 7 Anti-Virus Shields," which will leave you with "No Active-Monitoring Anti Virus Protection," so it really is about time for Microsoft to give us MSDN Tester's "Something Newer than Build 5308," whether it's either Build 5342, or the Upcoming April Release (even if it's not a CTP Release). P.S. I am not happy with the fact that Microsoft has chosen to leave us MSDN Windows Vista Tester's Vulnerable to the Critical IE 7 Security Vulnerability (it's bad enough that us MSDN Windows Vista Home User Tester's have No Active Anti-Virus Solution that works, and now we have to worry about an IE 7 Beta Security Vulnerability as well). I have already tried using both NOD32 and the McAfee Virus scan 8.5I Corporate Beta, and both of them refused to install on my Windows Vista Hard Drive. P.P.S. As I have also previously mentioned the following: The following update refuses to install on my computer: "KB916184 for Windows Vista Build 5308 CTP." So it really is about time for Microsoft to give us MSDN Tester's either Build 5342 or some other New Build No Later than April 12th, 2006. P.P.P.S. If Microsoft was really concerned about Computer User's Security in Windows Vista, they would give us MSDN Subscriber's a New Build (like Build 5342 for example, or the Upcoming April Release no later than April 12th, 2006). Sincerely, Kevin John Panzke (MSDN Operating Systems Level Subscriber) kevpan815@nospam.hotmail.com (Remove no spam to Reply) |

| | Re: A Letter to Bill Gates. Many report success with Avast on that build, many including myself did not. If security is an issue, you should not be using a Beta especially a Beta operating system for a production computer. Are you willing to accept total loss of data and the need to format to resolve any issue? If not, you should not install any kind of Beta much less a Beta operating system. Also since this is a peer to peer newsgroup, hopefully you are sending this message through an appropriate channel. This newsgroup is clearly not appropriate if you want Microsoft or Bill Gates to see your message. -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar http://www.dts-l.org "Kevin John Panzke" <kevpan815@nospam.hotmail.com> wrote in message news 99FADF7-A88B-4E8A-BBA7-9D229E2A0AB1@microsoft.com...> Dear Mr. Bill Gates: > > As I have previously mentioned the following, "Installing Avast 4.6 Home > Edition on Build 5308 CTP will cause the Operating System to become > "Completely Unstable," that is unless you turn off "All 7 Anti-Virus > Shields," which will leave you with "No Active-Monitoring Anti Virus > Protection," so it really is about time for Microsoft to give us MSDN > Tester's "Something Newer than Build 5308," whether it's either Build > 5342, > or the Upcoming April Release (even if it's not a CTP Release). > > P.S. | | Re: A Letter to Bill Gates. Maybe you should contact Avast in regards to there product not working on the Beta OS instead of MS. Avast does not support beta MS Vista at this time. Also keep in mind, with Beta software, there will be issues.
