Windows Explorer Crashes

Hey all,

My windows vista came with my acer ferrari 5000. I didn't get a vista cd
though. Anyway, every time I click on my computer, the window opens and then
I get a message, Windows Explorer has stopped working. I click check online
for solution but so far haven't received any solution. It is extremely
annoying and I don't know what to do. I regularly update my windows but this
problem won't go.

I had installed the google search bar and the same problem started with
internet explorer. I uninstalled it and now the explorer works though it
hangs up out of nowhere especially when I'm on battery power.

Can anyone help out?

Thanks!

Shahab.

Umm, call acer. But I'm sure there going to tell you to do a restore 1st
from the hidden partion. That's where the factory image is as there to cheap
to give out a DVD nowadays.

When I bought my ThinkPad, I called IBM and they sent me the cd's for free.
While you have them on the phone, tell them to send them to you.

Re: Windows Explorer Crashes

I have a Ferrari 5000 too, not experiencing any such issues, but have you
checked the Problem Reports and Solutions > View Problem History (All
Programs > Maintenance). Select the crash log related to Explorer crashing >
right click > click View Details (you should see a possible solution - not
guaranteed).

Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories and right-click
on the Command Prompt and choose "Run as administrator".
Type in: SFC /SCANNOW and press your Enter key.

This should repair/replace any damaged system files.

If that does not work, try repairing your system. Boot from your Windows
Vista DVD, select the System Repair Option > on the setup screen, select
'Repair Computer > Select your installation of Windows > select Startup
Repair option and follow instructions.
