| | Encryption Once you encrypt a folder and all files inside of a folder, is there any way to have Windows keep the file encrypted when you e-mail, move the file outside of the computer, etc.? |

| | Re: Encryption Well, it will remain encrypted unless you decrypt before emailing. You can't email folders unless they zipped by the way. -- Andre Blog: http://adacosta.spaces.live.com My Vista Quickstart Guide: http://adacosta.spaces.live.com/blog...3DB!9709.entry "Mack" <estatebarnes@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:1194815151.998121.104610@xxxxxx Quote: > Once you encrypt a folder and all files inside of a folder, is there > any way to have Windows keep the file encrypted when you e-mail, move > the file outside of the computer, etc.? > |

I then opened that e-mail on another computer and was able to open the file because it didn't remain encrypted. |

The encryption is to prevent other accounts from accessing the file, not the account that encrypted it. So when you attached it to an email under the account that encrypted it, it gets treated like an unencrypted file, if that makes any sense... ;-) IOW... it's only encrypted to other accounts, not the account that encrypted it.
