| | blue screen after ram install Hi Everyone I purchased a new acer laptop it came with 512 mb of ram. I went to add 1 gig more and now I get the blue screen. If I try the 1 gig stick I get the Bkue screen, but it works ok if I put the 512 back in. They are both DDR2 tyre ram. I the bios it shows 1536 mb and I can boot into safe mode. any ideas please. |

| | RE: blue screen after ram install You can try to use a RAM check utility. These utils are bootable and can check your new RAM for errors. You should search for them online, then after download and burn it on a CD to boot from. This way it does not boot in Windows first and avoids the blue screen. good luck! | | Re: blue screen after ram install I have run into this when there are two different RAM timings involved (mismatched RAM). You have to manually set the bios for the slowest RAM timings. Then the problem will likely go away. I have been successful in doing this. -- Regards, Richard Urban Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User (For email, remove the obvious from my address) "Baron" <Baron@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:48EEBAEA-E4B8-4289-A2BC-3D0B6CC56E15@xxxxxx Quote: > Hi Everyone > I purchased a new acer laptop it came with 512 mb of ram. > I went to add 1 gig more and now I get the blue screen. > If I try the 1 gig stick I get the Bkue screen, but it works ok if I put > the > 512 back in. > They are both DDR2 tyre ram. | | Re: blue screen after ram install I did have a look in the bios but it wont let me make any changes to do with the ram. I seems the bios changes are very limited on my laptop, but my desk top allows you to do much more. both acer machines! Another other idea's? anyone?
