Using Japanese

Hey all,

Im using Windows vista 64bit ultimate. I use an US keyboard but what i want is to typ japanese. So i searched the web and found this: Declan's Guide to Installing and Using Microsoft's Japanese IME - Windows Vista, XP & 2000

I tried to follow the guide but when i have to add the Microsoft IME i cant find it. Whats the problem? And how can i fix it?

Greetings rutix

Hi Rutix,

Welcome to the Vistax64.com forum.

After you clicked "Add" and have expanded the "Japanese (Japan)" language, then expanded "Keyboard". If "Microsoft IME" is not listed under "Japanese", then check "Show More" to expand the list and see if it is listed now. See the NOTE under step 6B in this tutorial as a reference to this.

Re: Using Japanese

Rutix,

That is strange that is not even listed.

You might try running the sfc scannow command to see if it will fix the problem. This tutorial will show you how.

If that does not work, then you can try a Repair Install. This will allow you to repair your Vista installation without loosing your files, settings, and programs. You can see how in this tutorial.

Re: Using Japanese

Your welcome Rutix,

The Repair install acts almost like a clean install, but without losing everything.

Re: Using Japanese

Rutix,

I do not know what to say if a clean install will still not have it. I have the Vista Ultimate 64 bit, and I am starring at the listed Microsoft IME on mine. If I knew where Vista kept the file, I would post a copy of it for you.

I'm stumped.

Sorry,
Shawn
