Diskeeper defrag - never defrags some files

I have tried cleaning up my hard drive and when I run the defrag program
that came with Vista, I never seem to be able to get it to clean up the
frgamentaion below 4& to 6%. In some cases, the report telles me that it
cannot open some files that, when I search for them, do not appear to be on
the disk, e.g. the temporary internet files. Other files appear to be on
the disk but Diskeeper cannot open them, e.g. a catdb file in the
\Windows\System32 folder.

Is it safe to delete these files? (the ones I can locate)

At least you got it to run. When I tried to run it I came back an hour later
to find the PC sleeping. Odd since I shut off the sleep mode. So when it does
run... is there any sort of graph to show progress? I never got anything but
the main screen.

Re: Diskeeper defrag - never defrags some files

Short answer, NO.

Your drive is 2/3 full, it is recommended you do not go above about 3/4
full anyways. The defragmenter appears to be "Playing safe" and
certainly take other advice but I would delete nothing from that list
and ignore the % report. Remember fragmentation ONLY has any real effect
when those files are being used

Re: Diskeeper defrag - never defrags some files

There are many files that will not be defragmented. Among these are the
System restore Points.

Re: Diskeeper defrag - never defrags some files

Progress bar is in the lower right corner. Two tabs show graphs of file
fragmentation and a graphic view of files whose performance is affected by
fragmentation.
