Vista User Folder, Standard Desktop Icon ?

I know its not major, but its something thats bothering me as i have no
idea why its happened.

The icon for the Desktop folder has become a standard icon. Its just a
plain, ordinary folder icon when it used to be something different.

Heres a pic -

Does anyone know why this would have happened, and how to fix it ?

RE: Vista User Folder, Standard Desktop Icon ?

Hello Ogs,

This is a fairly easy thing to fix. Firstly, you will need to open up the
command prompt. You can do this by holding down the shift key, and then right
clicking a blank area on your desktop and clicking "Open Command Window Here".

Once the command prompt window has appeared, type the following command:

attrib -S -H desktop.ini && del desktop.ini

Leave the command prompt open as we will need it again. Open up Notepad by
clicking Start, All Programs, Accessories, and then click on Notepad. Paste
the following into the Notepad window:

[.ShellClassInfo]
LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21769
IconResource=%SystemRoot%\system32\imageres.dll,-183

Now save this file as desktop.ini in C:\Users\<your username>\Desktop.

With the command prompt window still open, type attrib +S +H desktop.ini,
and then log off and back in. This should repair the desktop folder icon.

Hope this helps, have a great day!
