| | No icons in the taskbar I don't have any of the system tray icons in my taskbar nor do any of my open programs show up there. This happened suddenly and not after a software/driver load. I tried rebooting, but this did not fix the problem. I'm running Windows Vista Beta 2. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. |

| | Re: No icons in the taskbar Has anyone gotten system restore to actually work? My one attempt to create a system restore point, install a program, uninstall the program (which didn't work) and then do a system restore, left most if not all of the registry entries behind. I could see no evidence that any restore took place. And yes, I rebooted after each step for good measure. | | Re: No icons in the taskbar Yes. I have successfully done a system restore using ver. 5384.4 x64. Mind you, I have also taken steps to ensure that XP is not wiping out the restore points in a dual-boot system (search the newsgroup for volsnap.sys). -- Mark Keeping the fun in dysfunctional! | | Re: No icons in the taskbar Yes. When I was testing BitLocker's ability to protect System restore points, I used SR. It seemed to work, there were some desktop icons missing and GAIM did not work after the SR. I had purposely used an older restore point to see if I would notice a difference. The only problem I encountered was on my second attempt to use SR. When it rebooted, there was a light blue screen that just stayed there, there was a lot of disk activity, then after awhile, no disk activity. I hit my power button, windows restarted and all looked well. I looked in the event viewer and it said "system restored successfully". -Michael "John Barnes" <jbarnes@email.net> wrote in message news:e4v0VOopGHA.524@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > Has anyone gotten system restore to actually work?
