Your Vista review just about covers my own experiences with Vista, and tells it like it is. You have failed though to mention the performance of third-party games? Or was that just an oversight, because guys like us don't really play games?

I'm not much of a writer, and tbh, my line of work doesn't really give me much time to be able to write a review as extensive or honest as yours.

If it's all the same to you, I'm going to be e-mailing a link to that article to my customer, as well as putting a link to it on my own Live Space.

Lets see what the next year brings....

Re: My Windows Vista Year in Review

    Hi,

I could be wrong, but if I remembered correctly, the 90 million copies are
"sales" made by the company, in which, I will assume some (??) have yet to
    be delivered and installed.

It is a common practice for OEMs to negotiate multiyear contracts and to
book sales in advance for preferred prices and supports, but not all those
sales can be counted as the current year's revenue, and not all those will
be delivered in the first year. Thus, it's questionable for counting it as
    the install base.

I don't have those reports around me now but that's what I remembered.

It is not my intension to getting into the nonsense OS debate, but I just
wish to point out something that I have read several times in this newsgroup
that could be misleading. Again, welcome to correct me if I am wrong.

The last time I checked I am not a sales person, I am running Windows Vista
on a desktop and laptop, my brother is also running Windows Vista. So I
guess if you minus those three computers, 89,999,997 copies of Vista still
have not been delivered, sold or preloaded on new systems?

    I don't think so.

That'll be great, as a positive review on Vista gaming performance is something that is hard to find. If a little feedback is in order, these are the game that I run successfully on Vista x64 (actually, they perform better in Vista than they ever did on XP, and I don't need to use compatibility mode either):
    • Tomb Raider : Legend (and TR Anniversary)
    • Diablo 2 + Lord of Destruction Expansion
    • The Sims 2
    • Empire Earth (this is a classic!)
    • Empire Earth 2
    • Tetris 4000
