Can't install or uninstall... at wits end!

Anytime I try to install an up-date, or new program, or if I try to uninstall
I get an error message saying that there is an install in progress and to
wait until it is finished before trying to run another install... this has
been going on for weeks. It's like my system is in a loop and can't get out.
I have cleared the DataStore SoftwearDistribution fold more times than I can
say... that is not helping I have done a fsutil resource setautoreset at the
c prompt... that is not helping. Does anyone have a clue as to what is going
on? I wish I had never heard of Vista!
Thanks!

Re: Can't install or uninstall... at wits end!

Hi Andre,

I am still getting an error message stating that there is another
installation in progress and to wait until that is finished before attempting
to install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility you sent to me. It is Error
#1500.
Any other suggestions?

Re: Can't install or uninstall... at wits end!

Your problem may be related to broken install/uninstall debris on your system
that needs to be cleaned out, or you may need some elements of Repair Vista
Options. Details in the following tutorials.

Unable To Install Latest Version of Program on Vista

Repair Vista Options - Preferred Sequence

Re: Can't install or uninstall... at wits end!

Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories and right-click
on the Command Prompt and choose "Run as administrator".
Type in: SFC /SCANNOW and press your Enter key.

If that does not work, try repairing your system. Boot from your Windows
Vista DVD, select the System Repair Option > on the setup screen, select
'Repair Computer > Select your installation of Windows > select Startup
Repair option and follow instructions.

Re: Can't install or uninstall... at wits end!

Hi Nancie,

Well I searched for over an hour here trying to help you find how to install
this Utility on your machine. I found a site which was not in English, but
thanks to Google Translating I was able to find out how. The poster said
they installed it on another machine, copied the files onto a USB Jumpdrive
then copied it to their machine. If you have access to another machine and
can install it there, the files are located in the Program Files / Windows
Installer Clean Up folder. Their are 3 files....

msicuu.exe
MsiZap.exe
readme.txt

The msicuu.exe is the file you need to run and you should view the Readme
file. I haven't tested copying these files over to another machine to see if
it will indeed run, just passing on the OP suggestion. Hope this works for
you and you get this cleared up.

All the best,
SG

Only a fool would run any pathetic toy operating system, like linux. So
that makes you a fool by association and a troll.

Guess,

Obviously your sig line represents mental problems you've had or still
have.
I hope you continue to seek help.

I see that you're in this MS ng bashing MS & Vista on a daily basis
therefore it's quite logical to conclude that you can't afford Vista and
are jealous of those of us who can.
If you think that piece of sh*t toy os linux is so great then why are
you posting to this ng, huh? You must either be jealous of Vista or else
the mental help you're getting isn't working you brain dead linturd troll.
So which is you fukkin dipsh*t loser?
Frank

Making up lies to prove your point? Won't work pal, you said that, I didn't.

And, no, it is not logical except in Frank's World.

You live in a world of lies as we all know. You think that's
logical...only in your world right?

Ahahaha...that totally clueless, classless retort. You look like the
fukkin demented lying piece of sh*t you really are whenever you come out

Tell us all about your "noble trolling" in this ng. Then see how many of
us believe one word you say.
You are one sick person and we all recognize that fact.
