Computer will not shut down

I am running Vista Home Premiun. This is an Acer Aspire AST-180. Memory
is 2 GB. The Hard drive is 320 GB. The Processor is AMD Athlon 64 x 2.
When I try to shut down,it get to where it say shutting down, then it
hangs there. I have to unplug to get it to shut down. It don't do this
every time. But is starting to do it more all the time. Any help on this
problem would be appreciated. Thank You

RE: Computer will not shut down

See this tutorial. You may have to install the Hotfix as well as shorten
your WaitToKillTimeout time.

Shutdown

No, you certainly don't have to unplug it. Press the power button and
*hold* it pressed in for about five seconds.

It was written for XP, but there's pertinent info here: "Windows XP
