Changing fonts

I am peparing a ms. and changed all my documents to the requested font. I
then save the change. However, after closing and coming back to my document,
it has changed back. I tried to change the default font, but it still would
revert to the former font. I am going nuts with Vista and Word 2007 - the
most simple commands I used to do in 10 seconds, take me hours to try and
figure out. Hate it, but have to get used to it. Also, supposed I change to
Times New Roman 12, save it, etc. When I go back to it the number has
changed to maybe a 22 or 84, what the heck? Anyhelp with this will be
appreciated. (P.S. a 20 year user of Windows - I feel like a fool)

Re: Changing fonts

Start Word, from within the Font segment of the Ribbon click the
little arrow in the lower far-right of the font control. Select your
preferred Font and size, then click the Default Button at the bottom
of the details box.
