Select a Certificate pop-up

I have been getting a pop-up window called "Select a Certificate" at random
times, even when running no programs. There are no certificates in the
window. I think it started after I connected a usb hard drive and did a
Windows Backup, but I don't know if this is related. I am logged in as
Administrator and there are no other accounts on the computer. Any idea how
to stop the pop-up?

RE: Select a Certificate pop-up

Yes, I noticed they were popping up when the computer came out of power save
mode, so I changed the power options to High Performance and haven't seen any
since.

RE: Select a Certificate pop-up

Thanks so much for the quick reply. My Dell computer has been in power saver
Normal Mode when those Select Certificate windows poped up too. I wonder if
this is the only fix available (High Performance mode). I'll try it. Again
many thanks.

RE: Select a Certificate pop-up

Carolyn, I tried your solution to eliminate Select Certificate popup
windows.... to change power saving configuration to High Performance. Well I
still get the same popups, this tinme there were 7 of them over a 3 hr
period. Any other thoughts I could try???? Thanks in advance.

Re: Select a Certificate pop-up

I have the same problem, It pops up when I come out of hibernation,
and it pops up every 30 minutes. ITs a poorly written dialog box in
that you can't see the whole thing. It says:
intende....
friendsl...
xpiar...

Perhaps it has something to do with Vista requiring you to have a
security certificate to change your computer's power management
settings.
