Vista - Vista: Mouse Freezes for several seconds

I recently bought a new computer from DELL with Vista Home Premium.
However, quite often (usually once a minute) the mouse will freeze,
hang up or pause mid move. This freeze is about 1 to 5 seconds long.
The Task Manager shows a CPU spike but no processes show any activity
(perhaps a service is causing it but that tab doesnt show process
activity). This is quite annoying and has cause me to click on
incorrect buttons when it freezes.

Have you tried another mouse? Have you tried uninstalling the crappy
Dell mouse suite software and just using the stock Windows drivers?

I have the same problem. Did a fresh install of Ultimate x64, the first days installing went smooth, then suddenly the mouse pointer freezes for about 5 to 10 seconds.
It started after soms updates from windows I think...
I did some googling around, found lots of info (lots of Dell pc's), non of the trick did it for me.. .
But i don't have a dell so they aren't the problem.

My system is as followed:
Asus A8N-SLI Premium MoBo.
AmD x64 3800+
3Gb Ram (2*512Mb + 2*1Gb)
Geforce 7800GT 256mb
System is installed on a RAID1

I really hope to find a sollution...

That's the problem.. my cpu doesn't react when it happens. (Surfing = 4%).
When it freezes everything keeps working (keyboard also), only the mouse pointer is "taking a break".. .

Ok, i think i've found the problem..
My motherboard has an onboard audio controler, after disabling it in the BIOS the lockups stopped..
Problems with the nvidia dirvers?
Don't know, i've bought my self a basis creative audio pci card and my problems are solved..
Hope this helps some others with the same problems..
