| | can not access websites I am unable from my Vista computer to access walmart.com website. I have tried all suggestions from the groups that I have found, but still no luck. We have contacted Dell tech support & they state that I need a Vista patch. But I can't find it on the Microsoft website & Microsoft will not talk to me w/o $. I have NO problems from my XP computer getting to walmart.com. I have also noticed that I can log into my internet provider's website www.cableone.net but can't see anything from my Vista computer - again my XP is fine. Please help! |

| | RE: can not access websites Hello Becky, Close any open instances of Internet Explorer. Go to the Control Panel/Internet Options/General tab, under browsing history click on 'delete'. Delete Temporary Internet Files and Cookies. Close this dialog when complete. Click start, type CMD. Right click the entry in the start menu, choose 'run as administrator'. From the prompt, run "ipconfig /flushdns" (without the quotes). When complete, exit the command prompt. Reboot Retry the sites. Web site/browser error code when you cannot see the Web page for the site you're trying to view. If you do have a router there, did you connect the Vista computer directly to the modem and try to access the sites to see if the problem follows? If you have a router sitting there what is it make/model? |

| | Re: can not access websites I have never been able to connect to my internet providers site. I was previously able to connect to the walmart.com site, but never able to order anything. My order would never complete. "Rick Rogers" wrote: Quote: > Hi, > > Is that the only site you have trouble with or is it anything other than > your provider's site? | | Re: can not access websites I have a linksys wireless g router. The computer I am using is a laptop w/in a wireless network. I have another (desktop) computer in my son's room that is also wirelessly linked (w/XP) & has no problem accessing either site....so that doesn't lend itself to being a problem w/the router. The problem really appears to be a Vista problem. | | Re: can not access websites Some sites install an active X control, but most use cookies. If you have the security/privacy settings too high, the site can't keep your information (in the cookie) while you complete the checkout process. I would check those settings, delete all temporary internet files with the browser closed, and try again. -- A Professional Amateur...If anyone knew it all, none of would be here!
