Reinstalling Windows Vista

Hi all
I am having some problems with my Sony Vaio and would like to reinstall Vista.
The problem is, I bought it at Best Buy and it came with Vista originally,
but it didn't have a Windows cd, like a lot of computers with pre-installed
software we buy at regular stores.
Some time ago I had XP and needed to reinstall and didn't have a cd either,
so i used HP's software to make a recovery DVD, that had all the stuff I
needed to reinstall from scratch, including all the pre-installed, less
important, software.
I can't find a way to create such a disk on Vista. Is this even doable?
There must be a way to be able to reinstall.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks in advance

Re: Reinstalling Windows Vista

Contact Sony support for information on how to recover your installation.
There will most likely be a recovery partition from which Vista can be
re-installed..

What you need to do is check the documentation that came supplied with you computer for information on how to access the recovery partition.

I got this off the Sony website for you:

Quote:
If the operating system will not start and no other troubleshooting can be performed, a recovery of the (C: drive can be performed by starting the computer and pressing the F10 key.
The recovery program should restore your computer to factory conditions, so be sure you have adequate backups of all your important data before you begin.

Re: Reinstalling Windows Vista

I agree with Mike Hall - My e-machines computer came with Vista installed and
there was both an option to create a disaster recovery disk and a recovery
partition.

Re: Reinstalling Windows Vista help

Take your notebook back to the retailer where you bought it from, having best
buy, go to the "Geek Squad". However, since you bought it from them, you have
no power of reinstalling vista since it is an OEM, a type of software of an
O/S that manufacturing companies use that only allows you to install vista
once. Once vista is on your computer, there is nothing you can do. When you
send it back to the "Geek Squad" they're gonna ask $200 from you for another
OEM. Sure $200 is a rip off, but they gotta make a profit for just a simply
click of a mouse for an easy profit. Generally if you want to do it yourself,
newegg.com has a vista OEM for sale for around $150.
