| | Can't access Vista PC on home network I have just added a Vista PC to my home network. I have changed some folders including the Documents folder on the Vista system to enable file sharing and allowed everyone full control (via advanced sharing/share permissions). When I go the Vista system from either of the 2 XP Pro systems I get the message "\\Mary is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this resource." The Vista PC is set to Private network and all PCs are set to the same Workgroup name (WORKGROUP). The IP address range of all PCs are allowed in Zonealarm (If I switch Zonealarm off and run without a firewall I still have the problem). All the PCs connect to the internet OK. I can't see anything I have missed. I never had this problem on XP when adding other PCs to the network. Any help appreciated -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com |

Mary, the point is that you should not post the same question separately to two or more groups. Here's my standard message on Multiposting: Answered in another newsgroup. Please do not send the same message separately to more than one newsgroup (called multiposting). Doing so just fragments the thread, so someone who answers in one newsgroup doesn't get to see answers from others in another newsgroup. And for those who read all the newsgroups the message is multiposted to, they see the message multiple times instead of once (they would see it only once if you correctly crossposted instead). This wastes everyone's time, and gets you poorer help than you should get. If you must send the same message to more than one newsgroup, please do so by crossposting (but only to a *few* related newsgroups). Please see "What is the accepted way to share a message across multiple newsgroups?" at http://smjg.port5.com/faqs/usenet/xpost.html Quote: > On Mon, 26 Nov 2007 01:40:02 -0800, Mick Murphy > <MickMurphy@xxxxxx> wrote: > Quote: > >http://technet.microsoft.com/en-au/l.../bb727037.aspx > > > >I answered you in the OTHER newsgroup Mary!!!! > > > >"Mary" wrote: > > Quote: > >> I have just added a Vista PC to my home network. > >> > >> I have changed some folders including the Documents folder on the > >> Vista system to enable file sharing and allowed everyone full control > >> (via advanced sharing/share permissions). > >> > >> When I go the Vista system from either of the 2 XP Pro systems I get > >> the message "\\Mary is not accessible.
