| Vista Ultimate x64 | Microsoft.NET Framework and Visual Studio I am mostly a gamer and a casual browser. I have no .NET frameworks or Visual Studios installed. I do not create videos or software or anything of that nature. Would it benefit me in any way to install either of these programs? If it would help or could help in even the most remote of situations I might encounter, I would like to install them. |

Unless you'll venture into game, program or web site development, you'll gain nothing from installing Visual Studio. Charlie42 |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: Microsoft.NET Framework and Visual Studio Thx for the information. I uninstalled all of the .NET entires(1.1 and two others that said x64 by them) under add/remove programs. There is still a framework listed under the programs and programs(x86) folder in the OS harddrive that lists v3.0. Do I need to reinstall 1.1, then install 2.0, then 3.0, all the way to 3.5, or can I just install 3.5? |

Most commercial software doesn't use .Net, anyway. It's mainly used for server-based software. Either way, there's no point in cluttering the system with the .Net runtime, the Java runtime, etc., unnecessarily, when you don't need them. |
