"View" Dropdown does not include "Thumbnails"

Something has gone wrong with my explorer I can no longer see thumbnails
of my photos:

My problem:
My explorer toolbar shows "file edit view tools help".

When I click on "view"
The ONLY choices I get are:
Extra large icons
large icons
medium icons
small icons
list
detail
tiles

But there is no "thumbnails" to select.

Possible clues:
A toolbar i never saw before has appeared and it has on it "Organize"
"Views" and "Burn"
When I click on "Views" on that toolbar I get the same selection as when
I click on "View" on the mail toolbar.
Thanks

Re: "View" Dropdown does not include "Thumbnails"

In Vista, "thumbnails" is not an option on that menu. The small medium and
large icons are the thumbnails and you can choose by size.

To make sure thumbnails are enabled, goto Start > Control Panel > Folder
Options

Click the View tab. Make sure the "Always show icons, never thumbnails" is
not selected.

The thumbnails choices are there. They are just no longer called thumbnails. "Large Icons" is usually sufficient for most, but you can use the slider to adjust to a custom size between "Large Icons" and "Extra Large" icons. Although "Extra Large Icons" is a little big, unless you have a really, really BIG monitor set to an exotically high resolution.

But if you still cannot see thumbnails, then John Chapman's post may help by re-enabling the facility to view thumbnails.
