Can data saved on Word & Excel 2003 be converted to Office 2007?

Re: Office 2003 vs Office 2007

Hi,

Office 2007 supports the formats used in Office 2003. All you would need to
do is open them with Office 2007 and "save as" the newer formats (the "x"
style).

Hello Felicita,

Just open them with Office 2007 and then you can save them with the new format.

Yes.

When you open a file (*.DOC or *.XLS) in Office 2007 that was originally created in Office 2003, then Office 2007 will open the file in "Comatibility Mode", and will continue to save in that format.

To save it in the new format, you will need to click the "Office Pearl" in the upper left corner of Word or Excel, then choose "Save As". In the "Save As" dialog, change the "Save As Type" to "Word Document" or "Excel Workbook".

Just remember that when saving files in the new format, anyone not using Office 2007 will not be able to open them unless they have the Office Compatibility Pack installed. So if you regularly send Word or Excel files to co-workers that do not have Office 2007, then perhaps you should stick to saving files in the Office 97-2003 formats.
